ISLAMABAD: At least six school students were injured in a stampede in Bannu after earthquake tremors struck the northern parts of the country including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), FATA and Islamabad on Wednesday morAccording to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the magnitude of the quake was recorded 5.1 on the Richter scale.According to reports, the tremors were felt between 8.15am and 8.30am. People felt the jolts for about 20 seconds.
A spokesman of Pakistan Meteorological Department said that the epicentre was near Bannu in KP. Its depth was recorded at 10 kilometres.ning. However, no loss of life was reported.

Google has started the global roll-out of its new Chat messaging service, which is designed to replace SMS text messages on Android phones.
Chat has features such as group texts, videos, typing indicators and read receipts, which are not available when sending SMS texts.
Chat will be integrated with the default messages app on Android phones.
However, it will be up to mobile operators to enable the service and it does not offer encrypted messages.

LONDON – Facebook is introducing more privacy safeguard to users in Europe as part of efforts to comply with new rules meant to make it easier for consumers to give and withdraw consent for the use of their data.
The company says in a statement Tuesday that it will begin asking European customers this week for permission to use features like facial recognition and some types of targeted advertising.

Users will be able to see all of the content originating from the Facebook account behind those posts, rather than just the ads or stories targeted at them. This should also help them identify which posts are shared by friends, or their wider network, and which result from paid campaigning.
Facebook  has also set up a special team for the Irish referendum to tackle fake accounts and detect any attempts at foreign interference, according to John Kaplan, vice president of global public policy.
The advertising tool has already been tested in Canada, and Facebook was planning to roll it out globally later this year in time for the US midterm elections.
