MICROSOFT WORD
Microsoft Word is a word
processing software package. You can use it to type letters, reports and other
documents. It gives you the ability to use your computer for desktop
publishing. This tutorial is about Microsoft word 2007 basics. This is the
first tutorial on Microsoft word. In this tutorial I introduce you to word
window. So see the screen shot of word window below;
Title bar
This shows the document name and program name.
Menu bar
It consist of different options use for documents composing etc
Standard Tool bar.
It consist of small icon commands mostly used
Formatting Tool bar
Consist of formatting tools icon
Ruler
used for setting page margin, indents and tabs
Insertion point
the location where the next character will appear
Help
Provide to quick access to help topic
Scroll bar
use to see the parts of documents

provide to easy access to commonly used buttons, menus and tools

STARTING OF MS WORD
2007
Click on the START button on your computer and position
your cursor over the
PROGRAMS menu to view a list of installed programs. Now from
this list select
The Microsoft Office Group and click on Microsoft Word.
The application opens a blank page similar to a text pad
with scroll bars to the right
And at the bottom. Now you can type your essay in the blank
area using your
keyboard.
To save this document on the desktop:
Click on FILE at the top of the page.
Next, select SAVE from the drop-down list. Microsoft Word 2007
This opens a pop-up window where you can specify the
location on your
computer where you want to save the file. You can click the
DOCUMENTS or DESKTOP
option on the left and give an appropriate name for the file
before clicking
on the SAVE button.
Microsoft Word files are saved as Document files (the
file extension for word files is
.doc).
To open your file again for further editing, you can
double click on the file, which will
automatically load the application and open your file.

Set the Background
Using the Background feature, you can apply a different
color or a texture to the
Background of your document.
To change the background of the document, click on FORMAT
from the menu bar at the
top of the application. Move your cursor to BACKGROUND.
